Some of the most effective ways to achieve flawless skin are also some of the most painful. Lasers, needles and topical preparations may provide a desired result but whether the price paid in pain is worth it is open for conjecture. Flawless Skin Fluid is the newest addition to the Doctor D. Schwab line of anti-aging skin care product from San Diego, CA–based CA Botana International, Inc. The formulation for this new product is in keeping with the company’s ongoing philosophy of developing natural skin care products by drawing upon tenets of Ayurvedic medicine, Chinese, ancient Egyptian and American Indian herbology and aromatherapy, with the help and expertise of skilled herbalists and physiotherapists.

To protect skin from free radical damage, the product contains soja glycine (phospholipids), micronized zinc oxide, royal jelly, rosa canina (rosehip) fruit extract, alpha bisabolol and rosmarinus officinialsi (rosemary). It also contains shea butter to protect the skin against dryness and skin irritation and micronized zinc oxide to balance uneven pigmentation and to create flawless, radiant skin. The product retails for $34.50 for one fluid ounce (30ml).
Deep Green Roots
Flawless Skin Fluid is just one SKU in the 40-product range of anti-aging skin care products marketed under the CA Botana brand umbrella. The line was spearheaded by a real life physician named Dr. D. Schwab, a homeopathic doctor who created lavender oil extraction and wound healing during World War II.
“His homeopathic research, beliefs and ideas were incorporated into the Doctor Schwab product collection when it was first developed,” said Dieter Kuster, executive director of research and development for CA Botana.
With more than 40 years of in-house research, CA Botana researchers have studied the effects of sea extracts, plants, herbs and vitamins. In addition to incorporating the tenets of Ayurvedic medicine, Chinese, ancient Egyptian and American Indian herbal medicine, the products also embody flavors of European folklore, aromatherapy, herbology herbalism and physiotherapy. Each of the brand’s products is comprised of a blend of natural vitamins, herbal extracts and botanical infusions with the purpose of revitalizing and regenerating the skin. They also contain “free radical exchangers” to enhance skin moisture and encourage the proliferation of new, healthy cells. According to the company, the products soothe and support healing after over exposure to alpha hydroxyl acids, as well as laser resurfacing, peels and other medical procedures.
CA Botana also prides itself on the “greenness” of its products. According to the company, “renewable and regrowable sources are our link to life on earth. Their unique chemistry allows them to harness the natural energies of the earth and the sun.” Doctor D. Schwab products offer “a green solution to skin care products; products which are manufactured with environmentally sustainable and renewable ingredients that are non-irritating and non-sensitizing.” All of the products are “safe, natural and pure, never animal tested or made with animal by-products.”
The company has earned worldwide recognition researching the effects of sea extracts, plants, herbs and vitamins, having created over “one thousand different products from more than nine hundred ingredients.”
The products in the Doctor D. Schwab line range between $25 and $125 per product and are sold in spas and by dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons. Mr. Kuster said the products are “result oriented” and are guaranteed to work. “If a client is not satisfied with results or does not see results, the product can be returned,” he said. “This has yet to happen though.”
