Natural skin care goodness from Earth Mama Angel Baby

It’s a few words that when pieced together summarize the miracle of life—Earth Mama Angel Baby. It’s also an Oregon-based natural personal care brand (www.earthmamaangelbaby.com) that targets expecting mothers craving lotions, salves, soaps and other skin care goodies for those crucial nine months and beyond, evident in its tagline “gifts from the earth for your gift from heaven.”
According to the company, all Earth Mama Angel Baby products feature certified-organic or organically grown herbs and oils for its bath mixes, handmade soaps, salves, lotions and massage oils. Additionally, all products are 100% toxin-free, cruelty-free, vegan and free from all artificial preservatives, fragrances and dyes. And to “honor the earth and her valuable resources,” the company utilizes eco-friendly recyclable or reused/re-useable packaging and packing materials, and was recently recognized by the Business Recycling Award Group (BRAG) for its green practices.
To date, the company’s best-selling product is its Angel Baby Bottom Balm ($14.95) for the little ones. The naturals-infused salve helps heal existing diaper rash and protects against flare-ups, but also soothes itchy cradle cap, bug bites, scrapes, chicken pox, minor rashes, burns and scrapes. The company’s latest release is its “I Love My Mama” gift set ($45.95), specially designed to pamper both “new mamas and soon-to-be new mamas.” This festive set features herbal shea body butter, nursing salve, foot soak, lip balm and aromatherapy spray. Another new rollout is in correlation to Breast Cancer Awareness month—a Breastfeeding Support Kit ($49.95), where 10% of the proceeds from each set are donated to La Leche League and the Libby Ross Foundation.
“Phthalates are often hidden on ingredient lists,” says company founder Melinda Olson, who is also a nurse and an herbalist. “Artificial fragrances, which often contain phthalates, are exactly the type of ingredient that we would never consider using. We publish on our website and on every label a complete list of every ingredient. I believe that our mamas should be able to buy our products and feel safe using them on their biggest miracles—their angel babies.”
Ms. Olson adds, “My goal has always been to be the No. 1 resource for women who learn they are expecting an angel baby. Who is the person that a woman turns to with questions? Mama. I want my company to give them that knowledge, that safety and comfort (bodily and peace of mind) with the best products possible.”
