Lipstick Lover Launches
Her Own Line

Cosmoholic strives to be the ultimate lip product

Jody Cohen is a cosmoholic.

The New York, NY-based makeup buff was tired of having to put on a lip balm first, then a lipstick, then a gloss to achieve the pigment she wanted. So, she decided to create her own dream product just for lips.

“I rarely wore lipgloss because even though I liked the way it looked, I hated the way it made my lips feel,” she said. “I wanted something that nourished the lips and looked beautiful at the same time.”

After about eight months of perfecting the formulation, Ms. Cohen launched Cosmoholic Liquid Lipstick ($20) in May 2008, which is now the cornerstone of the Cosmoholic collection. Since its debut, the brand can now be found in more than 70 stores across the U.S., as well as on the kisser of Gossip Girl star Blake Lively.

According to Ms. Cohen, her Liquid Lipstick is ideal for the gal on the go. She tells HAPPI, “It’s a three-in-one product: lipgloss, lipstick and lip balm. It goes on like a lipgloss and has the shine of a gloss; there is so much pigment in the formula that it looks like a lipstick; and, there is a ‘repair kit’ in the formula that treats and nourishes your lips just like a lip balm would.”

The Cosmoholic collection features seven highly-pigmented, fragrance-free shades such as Rockstar Red and Mysterious Mocha. Vanilla, macadamia nut oil and vitamins C and E are added for moisturization.

But a cosmoholic’s work is never done. Presently, Ms. Cohen is reformulating the product to make it paraben-free.

“I like to think of myself as an innovator and will strive to develop products that I'm passionate about and that fill a void in the market,” she said. “Cosmoholic products are and will continue to be convenient and beneficial for the everyday woman.”
