Turnbow brought her backstage expertise to Sephora 42nd and Madison on April 9 for a special cosmetics workshop (see video at left) hosted by Tarte. She shared tips and tricks from her work on award shows, the runway and with celebrities like Keri Russell, Jessica Szohr and Amanda Peet, among many others! Tarte’s team of natural beauty experts was also on hand to offer complimentary consultations utilizing the best-selling Flower Child by Tina Turnbow collection for Spring 2010.
“Our ‘Go Gorgeously Green/Tina Turnbow for Tarte’ event was held at Sephora in April for many reasons,” Tarte Chief Executive Officer and Creator Maureen Kelly told Happi in a post-occasion interview. “With April being Earth Month, we wanted to host an in-store event with Tina so that she’d be able to connect directly with customers, offering mini-makeovers and green tips. We love partnering with Sephora for events—their teams are always so supportive. They understand our green messaging and natural products.”
Tarte cosmetics' unique combination of “skinvigorating” ingredients, easy-to-use products and fashion-forward packaging deliver professional results to the everyday woman—as seen at Sephora on April 9. The brand’s collaboration with the illustrious Turnbow for the season include the Flower Child Natural Eyeshadow Palette, a refillable and reusable, floral-adorned case that creates an endless array of eye looks ranging from soft to smoky; as well as the Flower Child Cheek Stain, a water-based gel blush in a gorgeous golden rose. The blush features Tarte T5 Super Fruit Complex, a proprietary blend of the five most active superfruits: goji, açaí, maracuja, acerola and pomegranate, according to the company.
However, the breakout hit of the season is Tarte’s new Natural Gel Lip Stains. These products feature “Lip Surgence technology” and vitamins A and E. Tarte contends the lip stains increase lip volume by 3% and moisture content by 6000% while showing a significant reduction in the appearance of fine lines an average of 39% after four weeks and 67% after six weeks of use. The brand plans to rollout a modified version of these lip stains for Fall 2010, according to sources.
“We really wanted to collaborate with Tina for this collection because of her eco-friendly philosophy and natural artistic skills,” Kelly said. “Being one of the few green, celebrity makeup artists, Tina was just a natural fit! It’s the perfect marriage: natural cosmetics brand meets green celebrity makeup artist.”
With May being National Skin Cancer/Melanoma Awareness Month, Tarte is also bulking up its best-selling 24.7 Natural Lip Sheers with SPF 15 range with new hues: Dawn (shimmering golden nude), Twilight (shimmering peach nude) and Sunday (shimmering deep pink).
