To celebrate the launch of the newest Crest 3D White products and “bring bright smiles” to the runway at New York Fashion Week 2012, Crest 3D White partnered with Gen Art, an arts and entertainment organization dedicated to showcasing emerging talent, to give designers the stand-out moment of a lifetime with the “Little White Wardrobe” Design Competition and presentation for Fashion Week. It also teamed up with author, fashion designer and Gen Art alumni Whitney Port.
Crest 3D White Glamorous White Toothpaste and Crest 3D White Intensive Professional Effects Whitestrips are the newest additions to the Crest 3D White collection. According to the P&G brand, the toothpaste utilizes a “breakthrough shine technology” that noticeably brightens your smile after just one brushing. It also removes up to 90% of surface stains in just five days. As the latest innovation in Whitestrips, the Crest 3D White Intensive Professional Effects Whitestrips provide professional-level whitening results in just seven days and contain the same enamel safe ingredient that dentists use to penetrate below the enamel surface for noticeable results. The products are available at mass retailers and drugstores nationwide now.
“We created Crest 3D White Glamorous White Toothpaste to deliver fast and efficacious whitening results for a whiter, brighter smile,” said Doreen Bayliff, general manager, P&G North American Oral Care. “The new formula was specially designed with a dual silica system and Crest 3D White’s proprietary radiance technology to help deliver the instant shine results that you want. To complement the powerful Crest 3D White collection, we developed Crest 3D White Intensive Professional Effects Whitestrips, which whiten as well as a $500 professional treatment.”

NYX Cosmetics, the professional makeup line known for offering “affordable luxury” makeup products, also debuted at Fashion Week. In an effort to continue building its presence in New York, the Los Angeles based beauty brand participated in two major events, including sponsorship of the Imitation by Tara Subkoff presentation on Feb. 12 and The Total Beauty Live event on Feb. 14.At the Imitation show, New York’s favorite makeup artist Tina Turnbow led the backstage team.
“We are thrilled to participate this year at New York Fashion Week,” said Scott Friedman, NYX Cosmetics’ CEO. “As we continue to build our brand, one of our major focuses will be to partner with fashion brands that share our passion for making women feel beautiful. We are honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with such established industry names as Tara Subkoff and Tina Turnbow.”
Designer Monika Chiang was inspired by Lancôme spokesperson Elettra Wiedemann when creating the beauty look for her Fall collection. "Elettra is a perfect muse for me," Chiang says about the model, philanthropist, and face of Lancôme. "She's such a natural beauty and has this really healthy glow about her. She can also effortlessly transform from girl-next-door to Old Hollywood glamour girl or rocker chick, to suit her mood. I chose her not only because she's beautiful, but because she's strong, smart and stands for something."
Lancôme national makeup artist Tarek Abbas created “enhanced natural beauty” for Chiang’s debut NY Fashion Week presentation.Tarek wanted the models’ skin to be flawless with a healthy glow. He contoured the cheeks using the new Blush Subtil Palette and swept bronzer around the hairline and chin. He mixed two neutral shades of Color Design Eyeshadow to create a subtle wash of color around the eyes and defined the eyes with dark brown eyeliner, which was carefully smudged and blended. One coat of Définicils Mascara in Brown created natural looking lashes. Tarek applied Rouge In Love in Lasting Kiss with his finger and pressed the color onto the lips to pump up the model’s natural lip color. New products used at the show included Teint Idole Ultra 24H Foundation, available in March, and Blush Subtil Palette in Nectar Lace- #126, out in July.
The beauty look this season at Vera Wang was inspired by stone angels found in old-world cathedrals, according to Lucia Pieroni, makeup creative director for Clé de Peau Beauté, in regards to the runway looks for the designer at Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week. “The overall look is sculpted and a bit intimidating, yet still radiates a beautiful softness.”

Pieroni applied Refining Fluid Foundation SPF 24 ($120) to ensure a dewy and radiant look for the face. She then covered any imperfections with Concealer ($70) for a flawless finish. She dusted new Luminizing Face Enhancer in 12/Gold ($95) over the cheekbones and around the temples for an angelic, glowing veil of light.Brows were boldly enhanced with new Eyebrow Pencil ($60, available in September 2012) for an exaggerated result.
“The brow lines extend toward the temple to give off the effect that they are looking down at us from above, the way gothic gargoyles do,” said Pieroni.
To achieve a rusty, smoky eye, Lucia applied new Satin Eye Color ($45) in 118, a muted pewter with gold undertones, across the entire eyelid and then applied 116, a warm burgundy along the lash lines (both available September 2012). To give lips a hint of luster, Lucia applied new Enriched Lip Luminizer in 201/Sweet Lychee ($60) with a brush for a touch of light pink color.
And, for the fifth consecutive season, Estée Lauder sponsored the beauty look (makeup and nails) at the Derek Lam Fall 2012 runway show. Invisible matte skin with subtly defined cheeks, pink-beige tinted lips and a sexy cat eye in a smoky-burgundy shade ruled the catwalk at St. John’s Center on Feb.12.
Estée Lauder creative makeup director Tom Pecheux led a team of makeup artists to create the stunninglook on more than 30 models, while famed manicurist Jin Soon Choi and her teampolished their nailswith Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Nude Attitude (available now in select international markets).
“The French have a saying for this look, ‘Un peu décalé,’ inspired by a woman who has a unique way about her. Unexpected. Intriguing. Different from all the rest. She is youthful and innocent, yet far from immature,” said Pecheux about the looks.
