The scent stars came out earlier this month at New York’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel, as The Fragrance Foundation announced the finalists for the annual Fragrance Foundation Awards at a gala breakfast presentation. Actress Christine Baranski, star of The Good Wife, hosted the award program, noting that her friend, fragrance designer, Ann Gottlieb had invited her to host and she couldn’t refuse.
“What better place to have breakfast, overlooking the city, with people who smell divine,” she quipped.
Each year The Fragrance Foundation announces the top Five Finalists for Fragrance of the Year in Women’s and Men’s Luxury, Popular and Prestige categories. Also recognized are winners in the categories of Best Packaging, Best Media Campaign, Editorial Excellence in Fragrance Coverage, Bath and Body, and Interior Scent Collection.
Elizabeth Musmanno, president of The Fragrance Foundation, explained that this year, once the Five Fragrance Finalists were unveiled, attendees would have the opportunity to impact the vote by making their own preferences known. Every 10 votes cast, equaled one corporate vote, clearly a chance for the industry to show support for their favorites. “We are very excited to offer everyone this year the opportunity to vote for Fragrance of the Year,” said Musmanno.
Awarding Excellence
Winners were announced for three categories in Editorial Excellence in Fragrance Coverage, with top honors going to Allure, for The Descendants, for Scent Feature; Allure, The Fragrance Guy: Raw Power, for Scent Bite; and Elle’s How To Be Unforgettable, for Blog Post of the Year.
