Argan oil is a hot ingredient in many anti-aging skin care, hair care and cosmetic products targeting women—but more and more male grooming brands are incorporating this “Moroccan liquid gold” into their formulations. Why? This simple, certified organic oil serves as a multi-purpose beautifying product and packs an age-defying punch. For example, Lucia Bay, a San Diego, CA-based prestige personal care brand, recently added an argan oil just for guys: Argan by Lucia Bay Organic Argan Oil for Men.
Especially formulated for men, the argan oil is lightly scented with Lucia Bay's exclusive blend of essential oils. Filled with antioxidants, vitamin E and fatty acids, argan is certified organic and is paraben-, sulfate- and toxin-free. With its healing power, argan oil slows down time, smoothing fine lines and re-hydrating skin that has been exposed to the elements. It adds a luster to hair when just a drop or two is rubbed into the palm and run lightly over styled hair. It comes in a 50ml dropper bottle and costs $44.
"Argan oil repairs and replenishes your skin after a tough day or a tough workout and works wonders to nourish your face, hair and body," said Brian Buchanan, president of Lucia Bay. "It's a go-to product for men, in particular, because it absorbs quickly, never feels greasy, and is so versatile and easy to use. Use just a few drops to smooth your hair or beard, a couple more to moisturize your face, and a few more on your hands, elbows and feet."
Sustainably sourced, the rich, golden oil is derived from the nuts of the Moroccan Argan tree. Women's cooperatives process the nuts, cold-pressing the oil for distribution and creating a livelihood for themselves.
"As a gift, Argan is good for the environment and for the world community as well," Buchanan added.
Simultaneously with the men’s launch, Lucia Bay is introducing its first product line for women, Argan by Lucia Bay, offering both pure argan oil as well as a blend of 99% Argan enhanced with essential oils. A portion of every sale benefits the women of Morocco as well as Quest Food Exchange, a non-profit organization.
Other new developments include a “new and improved” formula of its best-selling Bay Rum Face & Body Splash with a stronger Bay Rum smell as well as new packaging for both the Bay Rum and Citrus Splash, which will both be served up in recycled green glass bottles.
In fact, all Lucia Bay packaging contains recycled materials. Its men's grooming products are available in fine retailers, high-end barber shops and online at Orvis.com, Tommybahama.com, UncommonGoods.com and LuciaBay.com. A portion from every sale of Lucia Bay products goes to causes and organizations that support the health and care of oceans.
According to Buchanan, “The quality of our products is unmatched. It typically takes us a year to introduce a new product. Most of that time is spent refining the product to make sure it feels and smells right and does what it is supposed to do. It's very time consuming but I can't imagine having a product on the market that I would not use myself every day.”
