It is often said that the hands reveal one’s age. As a result, the marketplace for skin care that targets active digits (think of all that hands do and see) is on the rise—as seen at professional skin care brand Jan Marini Skin Research (JMSR) of San Jose, CA, which is rolling out a new concept in December touting results.
Luminate Hand ($135) is a multi-treatment product said to visibly reduce signs of aging, including brightening tone, improving texture and increasing the appearance of wrinkles on the hands. Key ingredients include heavy hitters retinol, alpha-arbutin, kojic dipalmitate, azelaic acid and glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice root extract), to name a few!
A clinical study has also been completed by dermatologist Dr. Joel Schlessinger (of Lovelyskin.com fame) using Marini Luminate Hand Cream twice daily showed statistically significant improvement in multiple visible signs of UV damage and aging. Subject satisfaction was high with improvement in the appearance of texture and wrinkles observed in 100% of subjects and reduction in the appearance of pigmentation in 96% of subjects.
CEO Jan Marini told Happi in an interview, “Consumers want solutions. Whether their concerns center on adult acne, rosacea, discoloration or lines and wrinkles, the end user wants to have confidence that the product is going to produce measurable results. Consumers are becoming increasingly sophisticated and want some type of meaningful validation to back up claims.”
She added that the anti-aging hand market is an exciting and growing segment but with “limited” topical solutions.
“Although there are several treatment and procedure options, there are not any topical solutions proven to address the comprehensive range of concerns faced by consumers,” said Marini. “Marini Luminate Hand Cream addresses this void.”
Marini Luminate Hand Cream is the third new product launch this year in a new family of Luminate products designed to deliver more radiant and luminous skin. Marini Luminate Eye Gel in April and Marini Luminate Face Mask in May. The product will be available in December 2015 through authorized professional JMSR resellers and via the company’s website at www.janmarini.com.
In addition to multiple patented formulations, JMSR’s track record of technological firsts includes, but is not limited to, topical TGF beta-1, antioxidant sunscreen, topical resveratrol and cosmetic lash enhancement, according to the company.
“Jan Marini has always had the highest standards, along with an impeccable collection of skincare solutions,” said Dr. Schlessinger, Omaha, NE. And now the addition of Marini Luminate Hand Cream brings them to the forefront of this area as well. We have done many studies on skin care products and this one is remarkable for the high level of results as well as the patient satisfaction.”
Also big for the winter season is Jan Marini Skin Research’s limited edition Marini Holiday Exfoliator inSugar Plum ($88). According to the company, this clinical-strength resurfacer immediately refines skin texture, leaving the complexion with a radiant, polished glow. Uniquely designed to eliminate harsh abrasives to gently and safely polish and resurface the skin, this festive scrub is the perfect way to get skin care into the holiday spirit. Formulated withglycolic acid, proteolytic enzymes (papain from green unripened papaya), spherical dissolving bead technology and antioxidants, the Marini Holiday Exfoliator creates a perfect, smooth canvas for makeup application.
The limited edition Sugar Plum scent is available now through the end of the winter season.
According to Marini, her company intends to continue to launch breakthrough technologies that are major milestones in the industry. She said, “We have a very robust R&D pipeline and there will be a number of remarkable launches over the next two years.”
