Winners at Walmart’s US Manufacturing Open Call on June 28 included personal care and household brands.
Open Call
More than 750 products were pitched at the Walmart US Manufacturing Open Call with participants coming 47 states and Puerto Rico. Nearly half of the companies self-identify as diverse-owned, including 25% identifying as woman-owned. It is part of Walmart’s investment in communities and job growth through its 10-year, $250 billion commitment to American manufacturing.
CEO
Doug McMillon, president and CEO, welcomed attendees and praised their innovation. Here he holds up Bröö, a personal care brand that was part of the competition. Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson was also on hand at the open call.
Beard Balm
Walmart officials take a closer look at one of the participants, Beard Balm LLC. The Detroit-based brand was one of 100 companies that received deals on the spot, and will be stocked on store shelves.
Stink Bug
Another product picked to go straight to shelf was Stinkbug Naturals – Lavender Stick Deodorant. This Pittsburgh-based firm makes a line of aluminum-free organic deodorants and lip balms.
Spot Remover Start Up
Another entry that caught the retailer’s attention for shelf presence was a start-up called Spot Stuff – Spot Remover. The portable stain product is dry powder said to work in 3-5 minutes, and in most cases without any washing.
