Clariant Launches Yellow Plastic Pigment

November 11, 2005

Coventry, RI-based Clariant Pigments & Additives recently expanded its yellow-based pigment offerings with the introduction of PV Fast Yellow H9G, an intense green shade yellow Azo pigment that is produced using a propriety Clariant finishing process. It was launched at the SPE Color & Appear-ance RETEC meeting in Toronto in October. It is based on a yellow pigment discovered by Clariant chemists in the 1980s, but was hard to disperse and low in color strength.

Now PV Fast Yellow H9G allows the creation of a wide range of shades in combination with other pigments. PV Fast Yellow H9G also offers heat stability, light fastness, alkali resistance and low warpage in HDPE.

“This new color stands out in the marketplace,” said Chuck Jones, marketing manager, plastics. “Its purity and vibrant color will directly benefit masterbatch producers, compounders and colorant suppliers.”

The company also noted the pigment is suited for coloring polyolefins, PVC, styrenics, PMMA, POM and PP for spin dyeing. More info: (800) 441-4414; Website: www.pa.clariant.com.
