● Tests on formulations revealed better
options for manufacturing sunscreen
emulsions with Dermacryl 79 filmforming
polymers, according to executives
at National Starch Personal Care,
Bridgewater, NJ. The tests revealed
that a pre-slurry prepared prior to the
introduction to the water phase significantly
improved ease and efficiency of
manufacturing waterproof sunscreen
emulsions.
National Starch executives said that
a pre-slurry preparation made with
Dermacryl 79 as well as a neutralizer
and a polyol will provide formulators
with a new level of processing latitude.
The polymers help maintain sunscreen
actives on the site of application by
resisting abrasion or rub-off. More info:
