Leverkusen, Germany-based Bayer Chem- icals has supplemented its range of Preventol P grades for in-can preservation with new combination products based on bronopol and isothiazolinone.
The use of chloromethylisothiazolinone is restricted by legislation to 15 ppm maximum, according to Bayer executives. Preventol P products have the advantage of allowing the ingredient to be used further without the need for labeling. The synergistic effect of the bronopol/isothiazolinone combination results in an increase in potency.
According to executives at Bayer, all product combinations in the line meet the regulatory requirements of the  Biocidal Products Directive. Preventol P products offer improved material compatabilities, such as reduced risk of corrosion and high purities. More info: Website: www.bayer.com.
