BASF’s Z-Cote, a nano-dispersed zinc oxide, is the basis of NuCélle SunSense SPF 30+ sunscreen.
The sunscreen was named to Forbes magazine’s list of Top 10 Nanotech Products for 2003.
The nanotechnology behind Z-Cote produces a high-purity nanocrystalline zinc oxide that goes on clear without causing whitening of the skin as older company executives.
“Z-Cote is ideal for hypoallergenic formulations and almost never causes allergic reactions,” said Alyson Emanuel, director, cosmetic ingredients for BASF North America. “Its gentleness is a unique advantage for daily-wear formulations.”
In other news, BASF launched Uvinul A Plus to the North American cosmetics market. Uvinul A Plus is a photostable, organic UVA absorber that protects against UVA radiation up to wavelengths of 400 nanometers, executives said. More info: Website: www.basf.com/usa.
