Dry Water Is The Newest Concept from Degussa

November 15, 2005

Degussa Business Line Aerosil has de-veloped Aqua Foundation, based on the “dry water” concept. The “dry water” process converts solutions containing water-dispersible pigments, vitamins, plant extracts and other active ingredients into powdered products. It involves Degussa’s Aerosil silica, a compound produced in a high-temperature process.
When fine droplets of water come into contact with hydrophobic Aerosil products in a mixer, the water-repellent silica wraps around them, preventing the droplets from running together. The result is a powder that contains up to 95% water.
In other news, the company offers VP Aeroperl 300/30, a specifically granulated hydrophilic fumed silica. VP Aeroperl 300/30 is an inert, high-purity carrier and filler for personal care and cosmetic applications, as well as catalysts and agriculture. It offers a particle size of 30 µm, low dust development, high adsorption capacity/fast uptake, easy separation from liquids and gases and high chemical purity.
