Nalco Polymer Protects Hair from UV Damage

November 15, 2005

Naperville, IL-based Nalco Company offers Solamer, a UV-absorbing polymer for the personal care industry that protects hair from the potentially damaging effects of UV light exposure, according to the company.
Effective in leave-on and rinse-off applications, Solamer absorbs both UVA and UVB light, according to Nalco executives. As a result, color fading caused by UV exposure is reduced. Solamer also protects hair from degradation caused by UVB exposure, maintaining tensile strength of UV exposed hair equal to that of virgin, unexposed hair, company executives said.
