Shell’s Analytical Services Group is Open to Industry

November 15, 2005

The analytical services group of Shell Chemical LOP has opened its lab to the broader chemical marketplace. The lab offers technical support for problems affecting the manufacturing of catalysts, petrochemicals, polymers and refined products.
The group, called the Answer Lab, has a history of problem-solving inside Shell, and has been providing these capabilities to non-Shell companies during the past year, executives said.
A new website, www.shell.com/ answerlab, details the advanced analytical tools the Answer Lab employees use, as well as services including quantitative and qualitative elemental analysis; separation and identification of components in complex mixtures; spectroscopic characterization of molecular structures; surface and structural analysis and thermal, compositional and physical property analysis.
