Dow Corning Launches New Hair Care Ingredients

November 22, 2005

Dow Corning, Midland, MI, launched 5-7113 Silicone Quat microemulsion, created to provide multifunctional benefits. According to executives, the silicone quat protects hair from sources of moisture loss such as heat, provides extra volume and body and helps protect against color fading. It is patent-protected for use in shampoos, conditioners, styling aids, fixatives, body washes and moisturizers.
Also new from Dow Corning is 5562 Carbonol fluid, a versatile, multifunctional hydroxyfunctional silicone that, according to company executives, can be used in a range of personal care applications for color cosmetics, underarm, face and body, sun care and hair care. It is a clear and colorless, low viscosity, hydrolytically stable silicone fluid. In addition to being patent-protected, the 5562 Carbonol fluid provides broader ingredient compatibility, according to executives.
