Akron, OH-based Advanced Elastomer Systems (AES), an affiliate of ExxonMobil Chemical Company, has developed a softer thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) that company executives said delivers the performance of a fully vulcanized elastomer but feels softer, drier and more silky. Santoprene TPE grade X8211-25 is suitable for many consumer product and packaging applications that require a softer grip but also require properties that enable it to resist repeated exposures to heat, oils, chemicals and other fluids.
AES developed this softer grade to meet the demand for soft elastomers that offer favorable aesthetics, reliable performance and are easy to color. More info: www.santoprene.com.
