Croda Launches New Hair Care Ingredients

November 22, 2005

Incroquat 18-MEA-40 is the newest sham-poo-friendly quat from Croda, Inc., Parsippany, NJ. A quaternized derivative of 18-methyl eicosanoic acid (18-MEA), the primary lipid found at the surface of healthy hair, Incroquat is shampoo friendly and helps restore the hair’s natural hydrophobicity, according to Croda executives. It can be easily incorporated into surfactant systems for clear shampoos, styling gels and leave-on sprays.
Also new from Croda is Keratec IFP, a purified protein fraction that protects hair from the effects of aging. The active component in Keratec IFP is a soluble form of intermediate filament protein made up primarily of a fibrous protein derived from New Zealand wool. Keratec IFP helps preserve fiber strength, protects hair’s natural keratin and exhibits antioxidant activity, executives said.
