Evonik Extends Portfolio with Plant Extracts
Evonik Goldschmidt GmbH extends its current technology platform of active ingredients with a third pillar—new plant extracts. The company introduced four new plant extracts at the SCS Formulate exhibition recently held in the U.K. Tego Galanga is a natural extract obtained from the roots of kaempferia galanga. It is a natural source of ethyl p-methoxycinnamate and is ideal for the protection of hair fibers and hair color fading against UV radiation.
Tego Policosanol is a natural mixture of higher aliphatic alcohols extracted from sugar cane wax. It is recommended for oily skin and provides sebum control benefits and inhibits the growth of microorganisms. Tego Arjuna, is a standardized extract from the heartwood of the terminalia arjuna tree. It is said to be ideal for anti-aging formulations and decreases the depth and the number of deep wrinkles, moisturizes the skin and reinforces its barrier function.
Tego Turmerone is the distilled fraction of turmeric oil extracted from the root of curcuma longa by an environmentally-friendly process. More info: www.evonik.com
DCI Introduces Alternative to Hyaluronic Acid Injections
Distinctive Cosmetic Ingredients (DCI) introduced a patent-pending ingredient, DC Upregulex, which is said to boost hyaluronic acid content in skin via a more subtle and less drastic approach as compared to standard injections.
