Pursilk Treats Curly Tresses with Proteins
It’s a challenge to keep curls well-defined and beautiful all day long. Under the effect of humidity, wind and natural movements during the day, curls tend to lose their structure and volume. Laboratoires Serobiologiques, a division of Cognis, developed Pursilk as a “must-have” product for both natural curls and permed hair. Assisted by the micro-proteins from Moringa seeds, Pursilk protects the hair against external stress. It acts as a sculptor, giving hair a couture look with rejuvenated, elastic and well-defined curls.

Croda Extends Softening Beyond Conditioners
Generally, when describing shampoo systems, “softening” and “conditioning” do not readily come to mind. Shampoos, through their cleansing action, can strip the hair of dirt as well as essential lipids, leaving it feeling coarse, dry and rough. To remedy this condition, most consumers use both a shampoo and a conditioner in their daily hair care regimen in order to impart softness and a nice conditioned feel to the hair. In order to improve consumer experience with their daily cleansing rituals, Croda has extended it softening technology beyond conditioner formulations and has developed a shampoo- compatible quat, Crodazosoft SCQ, that allows formulators to create shampoos that are aesthetically pleasing and create hair that is soft to the touch. Bayer Presents Baycusan Line
Bayer MaterialScience has developed Baycusan, a line of polyurethanes specifically designed for the cosmetics industry that offer a number of advantages over conventional polymers. They contain no solvents, making them environmentally friendly and can be used to formulate skin and hair care products that emit little or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
As a film former in hair styling products, Baycusan PU dispersions offer significantly greater hold at high humidity than the standard polymers. The new dispersions can also be used in peel-off masks.
Used in decorative cosmetics, the new polyurethanes improve the water resistance of mascara, lipsticks and eyeliner products.
