Shin-Etsu Offers Alternative To D5 Siloxanes and Derivatives

In an effort to provide formulators with an effective, quality alternative to D5 siloxanes and D5 derivative materials, Shin-Etsu Silicones of America, the U.S. subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd., Japan, recently developed DM-Fluid-2cs (DMF-2), a high purity, low residual dimethicone fluid.

With properties of a low 2cs viscosity and near-zero (0.1) skin irritation rating, the volatile fluid DMF-2 delivers an enhanced sensory cosmetic solution for applications ranging from foundation and makeup products to skin care, hair care and sunscreens.

Due to its high purity/low residual makeup, INCI listed DMF-2 as a preferred non-reactive delivery agent that easily rubs in and will flash off the skin over time, leaving a comfortably silky, skin feel. The DMF-2 diluent system is also employed across Shin-Etsu’s specialty silicone product line to provide a D5 alternative delivery system for Shin-Etsu’s unique emulsifiers, elastomer products, film-formers and dispersions of UV filters.

Crodarom Seafoam Delivers Pure Beauty
Sea foam, or sepiolite, is a white mineral, resembling foam, that can sometimes be found floating in the Black Sea. Sepiolite has been used as soap and also as a sculpting material by Turkish craftsmen.

The latest ingredient from Crodarom, Seafoam, features the magnesium hydrogen silicate neoformed in continental or peri-marine lagoonal systems. Like all clays, it is absorbent and remineralizing, acting as a genuine cosmetic sponge. Its ability to absorb water and oil make it an ideal product for deodorant or matifying applications.

Lipotec Debuts Anti-Aging Ingredients
Lipotec added a new anti-aging source to its wide range of molecular actives. Relistase is a tetrapeptide identified from a combinatorial peptide library, which offers an innovative molecular solution to increase skin resilience, according to the company. By inhibiting the excess of elastase activity, it improves body skin elasticity and tightness.

The supplier also recently released dGlyage, which prevents DNA structure changes triggered by the excess of transition metals ions, avoiding the ROS formation by Fenton reaction. Transition metals such as copper and iron participate in oxidative stress, which dGlyage blocks.

Desert Whale Jojoba Launches New Emollients
Desert Whale debuted two new emollients: Fruit Cocktail and Lime Twist. Fruit Cocktail is a proprietary blend of Fragaria ananas (strawberry) seed oil, Ribes nigra (blackcurrant) seed oil, Prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil and Sambucus nigra (elderberry) seed oil to make an exclusive fruit-based natural emollient.
