O/W Emulsion for Delivery

US Patent No. 8,158,687 B2; Nestec S.A., Vevey, Switzerland, has patented an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion comprising oil droplets having an interior comprising nano-sized self-assembled structures with hydrophilic domains due to a presence of a lipophilic additive. The emulsion comprises an oil selected from mineral oils, hydrocarbons, vegetable oils, waxes, alcohols, fatty acids, mono-, di-, tri-acylglycerols, essential oils, flavoring oils, lipophilic vitamins, esters, nutraceuticals, terpins, terpenes and mixtures thereof. It also contains lipophilic additive, hydrophilic domains in form of droplets or channels; and an aqueous continuous phase that has at least one of emulsion stabilizers and emulsifiers.
