P&G Awarded Patents for Oral Care Compositions

The Procter & Gamble Company has been awarded a number of US patents covering oral care compositions with silica as a component. These include the following:

8,211,406 B2—an oral care composition comprising fused silica and a stannous ion source;

8,211,407 B2—a method of making an oral care composition which has the addition of a fused silica slurry that is comprised of silica, water and a binder;

US 8,211,408 B2—a low PH oral care composition comprising fused silica and a fluoride source;

US 8,211,409 B2—a whitening oral care composition comprisingfused silica and an oxidizing agent;

US 8,211,410 B2—an oral care composition comprising fused silica and a chelant; and

US 8,211,411 B2—an oral care composition that contains a fused silica abrasive and an orally-acceptable carrier selected from fluoride ion sources, antibacterial agents, anticalculus agents, buffers, other abrasive materials, peroxide sources, alkali metal bicarbonate salts, thickening materials, humectants, water, surfactants, titanium dioxide, flavor system, sweetening agents, cooling agents, xylitol, coloring agents and mixtures thereof.
