New Silicone Elastomer Blend From Dow Corning

January 23, 2013

Imagine delighting consumers with color cosmetics, skin care and sun care formulations that deliver a distinctive touch and refreshing feel—along with exceptional performance. Dow Corning EL-7040 Hydro Elastomer Blend puts a new face on formulation flexibility, allowing product forms with a range of textures and sensory effects.

“Silicone elastomer blends have made an impact on skin care with their feeling of silky smoothness,” said Isabelle Van Reeth, Dow Corning’s global technology leader for skin care. “With global consumers always looking for new dimensions in skin care, we’ve taken silicone elastomer technology a step further, modifying the materials so they now combine with a broader range of ingredients. For consumers, that means higher functioning products that feel great on the skin.”

The new hydro elastomer blend has been adapted to allow the incorporation of water and polar ingredients, while having a good compatibility with organic materials, according to the company. For even more flexibility, the hydro elastomer blend can be used as a delivery aid for sunscreens. It also is suitable for delivering water-soluble active ingredients, such as vitamin C, aloe vera and caffeine.
