Course Offers an Introduction to Patents

January 25, 2013

SCC has scheduled a course on Feb. 6 at the DoubleTree Newark Airport Hotel that offers attendees a practical introduction to patents. The goal of this course is to demystify patents. By providing a practical, functional understanding of patents, their content and usage, inventors will be better able to communicate and work with attorneys to protect their ideas and discoveries while making certain not to infringe the patent rights of others, according to SCC. Rather than provide specific legal advice or recommendations, this course offers a framework to allow for more productive interaction between attorney and chemist.

The instructor is Tony O’Lenick, president of Siltech LLC, a silicone specialty company. Prior to his post at Siltech, O’Lenick held technical and executive positions at Henkel Corporation and Mona Industries.
