DKSH Acquires Staerkle & Nagler

January 24, 2013

SWITZERLAND: DKSH has acquired the Swiss specialty chemicals distributor Staerkle & Nagler, complementing its market leadership in Asia by strengthening the European operations of its performance materials business unit.

Based in Zollikon near Zurich, family-owned Staerkle & Nagler was founded 1946 by Emil Staerkle and is managed by the third generation of the family. In 2011, Staerkle & Nagler generated net sales of $21.7 million.

The firm will be integrated into DKSH’s performance materials business unit. Through this transaction, DKSH gains access to attractive new clients and several hundred customers in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

In other news, DKSH reported increasing demand from customers for its Supplier Agreement Program (SAPA), a service designed to ensure that suppliers understand the needs of customers and that they are able to deliver on these requirements.

Primary criteria are ensuring quality, product purity and worldwide on-spec delivery, according to the company. The new certification label “Qualified by DKSH” assures that a supplier also has access to the right technology, equipment, machinery and personnel, that it behaves ethically and is financially sound, noted the company.
