Asia-Pacific To Become Second Largest Surfactant Consumer by 2017

February 13, 2013

• ASIA-PACIFIC: Global surfactant consumption is expected to grow from $27 billion in 2012 to $36.5 billion by 2017, representing a CAGR of 6.19%, according to MarketsandMarkets, a market research company.

Synthetic surfactants are expected to occupy the major share when compared to bio-based surfactants during the next five years. However, consumption of bio-based surfactants is predicted to grow significantly by 2017, according to MarketsandMarkets, which is based in Dallas.

As of 2012, the European region is estimated to be the largest consumer of surfactants and MarketsandMarkets predicts that Europe will remain the top surfactant consumer by 2017. However, by 2017, Asia-Pacific is expected to overtake North America as the second largest surfactant market.
