• US Patent. 8,357,648 B2; The Procter & Gamble Company has patented a pearlescent unitary dose composition suitable for laundry or hard surface cleaning having a turbidity of greater than 5 and less than 3000 NTU. The composition comprises a water-soluble film encapsulating a liquid treatment composition and a pre-crystallized organic pearlescent dispersion premix that is comprised of a pearlescent agent, a surfactant selected from the group consisting of linear or branched C12-C14 alkyl sulfate, alkyl ether sulfate, and mixtures thereof; water and adjuncts selected from the group consisting of buffers, pH modifiers, viscosity modifiers, ionic strength modifiers, fatty alcohols, amphoteric surfactants, and mixtures thereof; a carrier; a co-crystallizing agent and optionally, a laundry adjunct. The unitary dose composition has a viscosity from approximately 1 to about 1000mPas at 20s−1 and 21° C.; and the pearlescent agent comprises mono- and di-fatty acid ethylene glycol ester having a weight ratio ranging from about 1:2 to about 2:1. The co-crystallizing agent is selected from the group consisting of fatty acid having a C16-22 alkyl, alkenyl, alkylaryl or alkoxy moiety; fatty alcohol having a C16-C22 alkyl, alkenyl, alkylaryl or alkoxy moiety; and mixtures thereof.
