• The Estée Lauder Companies’ Leonard A. Lauder Volunteer Team of the Year Award—which acknowledges outstanding commitment by a department or group of employees who have made a significant impact on the community utilizing volunteerism as a means of “high-touch” leadership—has been presented to the Aveda Global Education Team in North America for its work with Project Homeless Connect (PHC).
The Aveda Global Education Team recipients are Shelley Barnes, executive director, field education and program development; Deanna Carciofini, administrative assistant, global education; Kyle Miner, manager, shows and production; Wendy Rose, salon development partner, Aveda Services Midwest; and Stephanie Wagner, executive director, retail education.
The Aveda Global Education Team was introduced to PHC by Rose, who began volunteering at PHC events five years ago. The team started working with the nonprofit in December 2010 out of a collective desire to serve the Blaine, MN community. Twice a year, this local community services agency transforms the Minneapolis Convention Center into a one-stop-shop of services for the homeless. To date, the Aveda team has provided approximately 2,000 hair cuts to the homeless.
