Ukraine Considers Limiting Phosphates

• UKRAINE: According to the Ukrainian Journal, the Cabinet of Ministers has proposed, starting in 2014, to gradually reduce the permissible level of phosphates in synthetic cleaning products that are made, imported or sold in the country.

The bill, which was posted for discussion on the website of Economic Development and Trade Ministry, proposes to ban the production and sale in Ukraine of synthetic cleaning products and household chemicals that contain a mass phosphate share of more than 17% from Jan. 1, 2014; 10% from Jan. 1, 2016; 5% from Jan. 1, 2019; and 0.7% from Jan. 1, 2021.
