• The Women in Flavor and Fragrance Commerce (WFFC) is honoring Nancy Poulos and Florence Weber with Lifetime Achievement Awards this month at its recognition dinner.
Poulos started her career as a lab technician for J. Manheimer, Inc. in 1977. She took on advanced responsibilities in technical services, quality assurance and sales at a number of other companies, before retiring as VP of new business development at Kerry Ingredients & Flavours in 2012. Poulos was president of WFFC in 2008-2009 and received the WFFC Woman of the Year award in 1991.
Weber was one of the earliest American Flavor & Fragrance’s employees. By the time the company was sold to Crompton & Knowles, Weber rose to be the corporate vice president operations. As Accurate Ingredients’ first full-time employee, she joined as a sales representative. In 2012, she retired from Accurate Ingredients after 30 years of service, and in 2013 founded The Florence Group. Weber was named Woman of the Year by the WFFC in 2000.
WFFC was founded to assist and advance the professional careers of women in the fragrance and flavor industry. Yet, the organization for women would not have been as successful had it not been for the strong support from men in the industry, according to the group.
In recognition of those distinguished men, the WFFC has also announced its “Recognition Awards” in its 30-year history, which includes both women and men.
The award recipients include: Jeb Gleason-Allured (editor in chief of Perfumer & Flavorist), Kim Bleimann (chairman and CEO of Berje Inc.), Michael Bloom (founder and president of Flavor & Fragrance Specialties Inc.), Peter N. Lombardo (president and CEO of Robertet Flavors), Steve Manheimer (executive vice president of Kerry Ingredients & Flavours), Michel Mane (president of Mane Americas), Richard C. Pisano (executive chairman of Citrus & Allied Essences, Ltd.), and Steve Somers (president of Vigon International).
