Actives, Emollients and Emulsifiers from Evonik

June 6, 2013

• Evonik offers a broad range of ingredients, including actives, emollients and emulsifiers, for cosmetic chemists. For example, Tego Arjuna S is a standardized plant extract of pentacyclic triterpenes from Arjuna tree bark. The ingredient is said to reduce the appearance of skin sagging, reinforce the skin barrier, reduce scaliness and improve nutrient supply to the skin.

Tego Stemlastin is a standardized extract of Cyanidium caldarium, a red microalgae extract, that is said to combat the appearance of chronological aging. In an 8-week consumer panel study, Tego Stemlastin appeared to significantly smooth the depth of wrinkles around the eyes.

A new emulsifier, Abil EM 120, is PEG-free and can stabilize a range of W/O systems for serums, and BB and CC creams. It is said to be especially suitable for stabilizing pigment-containing emulsions, where it provides the added advantage of enhanced color trueness.

Finally, Tegosoft AC is billed as “a next-generation,” all-natural emollient. Made from 100% vegetable raw materials (coconut oil and sugar beets), it compares favorably with dicaprylyl carbomate in a natural O/W body lotion formulated for light skin feel, according to Evonik.
