Swan Creek Recalls Loose Votive Candles

August 2, 2013

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a recall of Swan Creek Candle Co. Loose Votive Candles, as the candles can burn with a high flame, posing a fire and burn hazard. About 715,000 units were sold loose, not in any container, and were displayed in open trays or bins. The candles are 2-inches high and are wider at the top measuring 1.75-inch diameter on top and 1.5-inch at the base. The candles were sold in dozens of fragrance varieties and colors. The votive candles were not individually labeled with any prices, model numbers, names, date codes or fragrance descriptions.

Swan Creek Candle has received about 89 reports of the loose votive candles with high or erratic flames including four reports of minor burns. The firm has not received any reports of fire or property damage.

The SKUs were sold at Swan Creek Candle company stores in Florida, Michigan and Ohio, other small candle shops nationwide and online at www.swancreekcandle.com from January through November 2012 for about $2.
