Kolmar Laboratories, a custom manufacturer of color cosmetics, skin care and personal care products located in Port Jervis, NY, is making significant capital investment to expand its 264,000-sq.-ft. facility, constructing a dedicated manufacturing area for non-colored skin care products, including those requiring OTC designation.

“Kolmar has over 90 years of experience formulating and manufacturing skin care products and this expansion further solidifies our commitment to bring the highest level of quality assurance, service and product innovation to our customers,” said Chris Baker, vice president operations and technology. “Providing separate manufacturing areas with dedicated equipment for both non-colored and colored emulsions sets a new standard for quality assurance and increases Kolmar’s capacity, allowing Kolmar to proactively respond to one of the fastest growing segments of our business. Kolmar’s skin care initiative will be further supported by an investment in R&D and product development resources to expand our already impressive portfolio of skin care formulations.”

The new addition will include a glass partitioned viewing area that allows visitors to observe the batching process.  The manufacturing suites will include state of the art equipment, including vacuum emulsifying vessels, equipped with propeller agitation, sweep agitation and in-tank homogenizers. Work on the expansion will begin immediately and is scheduled to be completed in early 2014.
