US Patent No. 8,535,697 B2; Kao has patented a process for preparing a cosmetic composition that comprises an O1/W/O2 emulsion composition, which comprises, in oil phases O1 and O2, fine metal oxide particles having ultraviolet screening ability. The process comprises preparing an O1/W emulsion comprising, in the oil phase O1 thereof, fine metal oxide particles having ultraviolet screening ability, by means of (A) a polymer composed of hydrophobic monomer units and hydrophilic monomer units and containing said hydrophilic monomer units in an amount of from 40 to 80 weight percent and emulsifying said O1/W emulsion in an oil phase O2, comprising fine metal oxide particles having ultraviolet screening ability, with (B) an emulsifier. The emulsifier (B) is at least one of macromer selected from the group consisting of a oxazoline-modified silicone and a polyoxyethylene methylpolysiloxane copolymer, wherein the oxazoline unit and the polyoxyethylene unit are present in the respective macromer in an amount of from 5-50 weight percent.
