Unilever, as part of its Project Sunlight project, rolled out the “yellow carpet” at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, which recognizes the achievements of American independent filmmakers. Award attendees were encouraged to share stories about social good, sustainable living and making a difference to create a brighter future.
Launched in 2013, Project Sunlight aims to build momentum behind a growing community of people who believe it is possible to build a world where everyone lives well and lives sustainably.
According to Kees Kruythoff, president, Unilever, North America. “Our scale, coupled with the inspired stories and influence of those that are being honored by Film Independent, is a truly powerful combination to inspire people to want to take small steps to create a bright future for our children.”
To recognize the power of film to inspire change, Unilever Project Sunlight also sponsored the first-ever Bright Future Award, which honors a filmmaker whose work motivates individuals to take action to create a better world. The inaugural recipient is Patrick Creadon, whose film, “If You Build It,” exemplifies the power of hands-on education and the impact a few budding creative minds can have on the future of a community. As part of the award, Unilever provided Creadon with a grant.
