MADAGASCAR: To contribute toward the fight against climate change, Pierre Fabre Laboratories has financed a reforestation project this year. Madagascar’s biodiversity is heavily threatened by the deforestation and degradation of its forests.
Pierre Fabre Laboratories relies on its Malagasy subsidiary, Société d’Exploitation Agricole de Ranopiso (SEAR), for the supply of periwinkle leaves, which are used to extract active ingredients and manufacture anti-cancer drugs.
Fabre is offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions generated by this activity by financing a reforestation project on its own land in Madagascar. The project consists of planting 20 hectares of land on SEAR’s property and monitoring and maintaining them for 10 years.
