THE NETHERLANDS: Ecover has sold its B2B business, Ecover Professional, to Greenspeed, part of MGS International B.V. Rijswijk-ZH, a Netherlands-based wholesaler for the professional cleaning industry. This follows a decision by Ecover to focus exclusively on the B2C market in order to drive long term growth.
Ecover Professional was scheduled to be officially transferred to Greenspeed on Jan. 1, 2016. Included in the deal are Ecover Professional’s existing customer relationships and the product formulas, and the Ecover Professional team will also transfer over.
Johan Tops, currently Ecover international B2B manager, will become the international sales and marketing manager at Greenspeed.
The product range and the look and feel of the packaging will remain the same, with the Ecover Professional logo replaced by the Greenspeed logo and the baseline “Engineered by Ecover.”
“We have built a successful B2B business but our long term growth opportunity lies in focusing exclusively on the B2C market, where our brands are generating strong traction with both consumers and customers,” explained Tim Smith, EU general manager at Ecover. “We believe transitioning our B2B business to Greenspeed, B2B experts with our shared commitment to sustainability, offers the best solution to our B2B customers who have used the Ecover Professional range for a number of years.”
Greenspeed has more than 20 years of success in the B2B market and offers innovative cleaning equipment that complements the Ecover Professional range. Greenspeed is mainly known for its microfiber technology.
“We are very happy that we have reached this deal with Ecover,” said Michel de Bruin, CEO of Greenspeed. “Both of our companies are driven by a similar philosophy, based on innovation and sustainability. Greenspeed will be able to accelerate their international growth ambitions and integrate a range of ecological products to offer a more complete sustainable cleaning concept towards its customers.”
