US Patent No. 9,382,503 B2; Reckitt Benckiser has patented a carpet cleaning composition that has an acidic pH. It is comprised of bactericidally active cationic compounds comprising a benzyl C12-C16 alkyl dimethyl quaternary ammonium cationic compound in its chloride salt form and an alkyl dimethyl hydroxyl ethyl ammonium chloride; bleach; a resoil prevention polymer selected from homo polymer or copolymer, which includes one or more monomers selected from acrylic, sulfonate styrene, maleic anhydride, methacrylic, isobutylene, styrene and ester monomers; and water.
Each of bactericidally active cationic compounds meets at least one of these conditions:
(a) in its salt form it has an aqueous solubility of less than 10% w/v in de ionized water at 20°C.;
(a-1) in its salt form it has an aqueous solubility of less than 1% w/v in deion ized water at 20°C.;
(b) it has a MW of greater than 50 and less than 300 ;
(b-1) it has a MW of less than 200;
(b-2) it has a MW of great than 75;
(c-1) the disassociation constant of its salt form is less than 10−3;
(c-2) the disassociation constant of its salt form is less than 10−6.
