Jeen Debuts Non-Toxic Preservatives

April 3, 2017

In response to the industry’s growing concern over the toxicity of preservatives used in today’s personal care and cosmetic products, Jeen has developed Jeecide AA and Jeecide AA Plus. Both are highly functional, efficacious, easy to use and non-toxic.

Jeecide AA is an easy-to-use liquid blend of benzyl alcohol, benzoic acid and sorbic acid formulated in balance to meet the preservation needs of personal care products ranging from shampoos and conditioners to skin care serums as well as most creams and lotions. It is particularly useful in natural and organic formulations due to the wide acceptance of the three components comprising the product.

Jeecide AA Plus is an optimized easyto-use liquid blend of benzyl alcohol, benzoic acid and sorbic acid formulated with 1,2 pentanediol to create a synergistic balanced preservative composite to meet the preservation needs of personal care products. Jeecide AA Plus delivers equally potent results as Jeecide AA while using a lower threshold of benzyl alcohol, benzoic and sorbic acids. Therefore, this powerful composite allows for use at higher percentage in formulations while staying at or below the maximum allowable limits for preservatives in more challenged applications or for more challenging preservation needs.

“We developed these products in direct response to industry and customer requests for alternatives to parabens, formaldehyde-donors, and phenoxyethanol issues and constraints,” said Albert Babik, general manager of Jeen International. “We strongly believe these two new composites meet all, or at least most, of the requirements needed for a versatile range of products from cleansing and body care products to skin care formulations.”
