In 2012, Diptyque invented a home fragrance device called the Hourglass Diffuser, also known as Le Sablier in French. Now, driven by a new creative impetus, the brand is reinventing this object with an optimized fragrance cold diffusion technology and a new design of geometric forms and colors. It is available in six scents and retails for $175. Refills retail for $60.
The cold diffusion process uses the natural principles of capillarity and evaporation to gradually release fragrance without heat. The technology enables the entire range of notes, including the most volatile notes which are particularly vulnerable to heat, to be easily identifiable. The diffuser scents an entire room in 10 minutes and lasts for up to three months if turned on twice a day, said the company.
