The Society of Cosmetics Chemists 71st Annual Scientific Meeting & Technology Showcase will offer a NextGen track covering a wide range of topics from K-beauty to INCI nomenclature to a historical look at role of cosmetics in society. These sessions will run on both days of the meeting concurrent with the regular programming, on Dec. 11 & 12 at the Westin New York at Times Square.
The SCC’s NextGen initiative was launched in 2015 to help young professionals and students further their education to attain successful and rewarding careers. Bridging the gap between young professionals and established professionals is at the heart of this critical initiative, according to the SCC.
The NextGen/basic track presentations during the annual meeting are: Formulating skin care products with silicones: approaches and strategies—Bart Maxon, senior industry specialist, Dow Chemical Company, Home & Personal Care (Dow Corning Corporation); K-Beauty: the science behind the transformational texture phenomenon, Marc Cornell, vice president of innovation, Englewood Lab; Back to basics: fundamentals of using colorants in cosmetics and personal care products, Kelly Dobos, technical manager, Sun Chemical Corporation; Learnings of fundamental properties of the fine powders in cosmetics, Arvind Shah, senior chemist R&D, personal care division, Micro Powders, Inc.; Five critical regulatory considerations when developing a new product, Pascal Yvon PharmD, MBA, consultant, IDEA Tests Group; The INCI nomenclature process, Joanne Nikitakis, director of cosmetic chemistry, Personal Care Products Council; The role of cosmetics in society—an historical marketing perspective, Joseph Pavlichko, owner and consultant, PCT Consulting, LLC; In vitro tests strategy for sensitization risk assessment of cosmetics, Frederic Nunzi Ph.D., ERT, doctor in cell biology and microbiology, IDEA Tests Group; Imaging hair: understanding phenomena at the microscopic and macroscopic level, Roger McMullen Ph.D., principal scientist, Ashland Specialties Ingredients; Skin pH vs product pH in the context of skin cleansing and care, K.P.
