ISP Acquires Vincience, Active Ingredient Supplier

International Specialty Products today announced that, through one of its subsidiaries, it has acquired Vincience, a supplier of active ingredients for skin care products. A purchase price was not disclosed.

Vincience, located in Sophia Antipolis, France, produces a diverse range of proprietary materials with a strong customized product focus, according to ISP. The Vincience portfolio includes peptides, botanical ingredients and biotechnologies.

"The acquisition of Vincience represents a significant step in ISP's continued strategy of delivering innovative, functional products to our customers and evidences our commitment to remain one of the world's premier suppliers of specialty skin care ingredients," said Sunil Kumar, ISP's president and chief executive officer.

Vincience's catalog includes 36 active ingredients—12 of them designed specifically for anti-aging applications. In addition, the company is currently working on 20 customized projects for its clients.

"This is a perfect marriage for us," added Linda Foltis, senior director, global personal care, ISP. "We were already strong in hair care, sun care and preservatives. But this acqusition makes us a major player in skin care actives."

Mr. Kumar was quick to point out that the new unit, to be called ISP Vincience, will continue to expand. In fact, plans are already underway to add staff at the company, which already boasts 47 employees in research and development.

"It's a toolkit of competencies to grow our skin care business on a global basis," added Philip Strenger, senior vice president EMEA Region, ISP. "Vincience offers unique actives in self-tanning, anti-aging and anti-wrinkle categories, while ISP can provide global sales, marketing and technical services."
