Spectrum Brands to Lay Off 100 Employees in Efficiency Improvement Initiative
2007-01-11 | 08:09
Consumer products company Spectrum Brands Inc. will lay off about 100 people as part of consolidating operations into three product-based areas. “Our new structure will enable Spectrum to operate more efficiently and profitably by eliminating duplicative staff functions and overhead in each of our business units, and downsizing our corporate infrastructure,” said Dave Jones, chairman and chief executive. The restructuring will realign the company’s four geographically based operating areas into three product-focused units––global batteries and personal care, home and garden and global pet supplies. David Lumley, former president of the North America group, has been named president of global batteries and personal care as well as home and garden. John Heil will continue in his role as president of global pet supplies. He was also named Spectrum’s co-chief operating officer. Kent Hussey, formerly the company’s president and COO, has been appointed Spectrum’s vice chairman.
