Giftco Inc. Recalls Pine Cone Candle Sets Due to Fire Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Giftco Inc. of Vernon Hills, IL announced a voluntary recall of about 24,000 Gold Pine Cone Candle Sets.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Giftco Inc. of Vernon Hills, IL announced a voluntary recall of about 24,000 Gold Pine Cone Candle Sets.
The candles' exterior paint and coating can ignite and catch fire, igniting nearby combustibles. The CPSC has received one report of a flare-up with damage contained to the candle. No injuries have been reported at press time.
The recall involves a set of Gold Pine Cone Candles, item numbers 1240 and R1240 located on the product's packaging. The set includes three candles of different sizes that sit on a gold plate.
The set was sold at Christmas stores, school fundraisers, mail order and specialty stores nationwide from September 2001 through December 2006 for between $4 and $25.
