FDA clashes with Procter over hand sanitizer
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has warned Procter & Gamble Co. regarding claims the company is making about its hand sanitizer for children. According to a Reuters report, the FDA sent Procter a warning letter about its Vicks Early Defense Foaming Hand Sanitizer. It said claims that the product can prevent colds among school children and fight germs for up to three hours are unsubstantiated, and called the claims "unlawful," Reuters said. The agency added that it was not aware of any health risks for children using the product. A warning letter doesn't involve any legal or enforcement actions against the recipient.
