Provider of consumer and retail information The NPD Group, Inc. has named Michel Maury as group president for its business in Europe. Mr. Maury replaces Andy Tarshis, who is retiring from full-time employment in May.

In his new position, Mr. Maury will oversee a growing portfolio of consumer and retail point-of-sale tracking businesses in 11 countries, including France, UK, Germany, Italy and Spain.

“Michel’s experience will be a great asset to NPD as we continue to expand our footprint in Europe and innovate to evolve with our industries,” said NPD President and Chief Operating Officer Karyn Schoenbart.  “With Andy at the helm, we made tremendous progress over the past 15 years.  We are looking to build on that success with new initiatives that provide even more granular market views and enhanced consumer insights through a new online consumer panel.”
 
Before joining NPD, Mr. Maury was managing director of Central Europe for IRI where he had responsibility for leadership and management of their Business Units in France and Germany.  Prior to that, he was president and chief executive officer of IRI France.  Mr. Maury started his career at Carrefour, where he held several positions of increasing responsibility.
