Evonik Launches a Natural Skin Protectant

Tego Cosmo LSG is a naturally-derived beta glucan.

Evonik has introduced Tego Cosmo LSG, a natural polymer produced by biotechnology for skin protection from daily environmental stress (INCI: Hydrolyzed sclerotium gum). According to Evonik, this beta glucan provides a silky skin feeling based on its film-forming properties. It is biodegradable, non-toxic and has a low molecular weight, and is recommended for o/w or w/o formulations claiming skin protecting benefits.

Also new from Evonik are two wipe concentrates. Tego Wipe Lux is an EO-free concentrate for cosmetic wet wipes. Recommended use levels are 3-8%, and the formula is said to be ideal for wipes (face and body care, baby and kid care, makeup remover and refreshing towels) as well as for O/W sprays and lotions.

New Tego Wipe Flex gives formulators the flexibility to formulate O/W lotion wipes with various sensorial profiles. The product can tolerate the addition of various oils, emulsifiers/surfactants and active ingredients.

All the products were highlighted at the IFSCC Congress in Barcelona.
