Schroeder to shed light on important global industry issue
At the next New York Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) session on Wednesday, March 4, at the The Valley Regency
In Clifton, Chapter Meeting Speaker Wen Schroeder will present “The Global Green Chase and the Potential Pitfall on Quality, Efficacy, Safety and Authenticity."
Over the past several years, interwoven in the broader movement for sustainable, healthy, and environmentally-friendly business practices, the personal care and cosmetics industry has vigorously invested in and launched an expanding stream of new “green” products. However, much confusion about these products abounds. That confusion begins with terminology. The word “green” has been in use as a universal umbrella term for all things natural and/or organic. But what constitutes “organic” or “natural”?
This presentation will use the recent melamine contamination event as a case study to outline key areas of concern while we navigate the largely uncharted international water of “green” sourcing. Major focus will be placed on sustainable sourcing standards and practices to ensure biodiversity, quality safety and efficacy.
Registration is available online. More info: www.nyscc.org
